The Serum Institute of India Limited
The Serum Institute of India Ltd is the World’s Number One vaccine manufacturer by number of doses, with approximately 60% of children in the world receiving at least one vaccine manufactured by the Serum Institute.
The Serum Institute was founded by true visionary Dr. Cyrus S. Poonawalla to ensure that vaccines did not remain a luxury for children around the world. Though Serum Institute has grown vastly, the original goal of making available world-class vaccines at affordable prices remains intact and is the soul of the organization. Its driving ethos is that "it is every person's right to have access to affordable vaccines".
The Serum Institute facilities are World Health Organization accredited for Good Manufacturing Practice and are approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for Pharmaceutical Injections.
Dr Cyrus Poonawalla was recently named one of Bill Gates' seven 'Vaccine Heroes' and was awarded the Albert B. Sabin Humanitarian Award and Award for Scientific Excellence for the scientific advancements and philanthropic work of the Serum Institute.
